A bit of a rough week, or a couple of nights were a bit rugged at least.
Wednesday night last week, around 11:30pm, I started feeling sick. I then began vomiting and to top it off a couple of shots of diarrhea. We then decided at 1am to go to hospital. At hospital I was admitted to emergency and put on a drip. I still felt very sick but did not vomit etc. Around 5pm Thursday I was admitted to the haematology ward. That night I had some considerable stomach pain. Great! I ended up having IV oxycodone which relieved the pain but made me rather drowsy. In the meantime the doctors were monitoring my liver function – it was slightly elevated. A few more days passed while they monitored my progress – all was looking ok. Eventually I was discharged on the tuesday.
It appears to have been a case of Graft Vs Host Disease (GVHD). My steroid was increased to suppress my immune system.
So there you have it – a fun few days laying around in hospital feeling sick followed by a few days of boredom. Back to the old routine of guitar and drums.
