Month: February 2015
Out of here
Here being hospital. I will be leaving hospital on sunday 1st of March.
No more IV anything
All meds are now taken orally. Might even be out by Monday. This was inconceivable only 7 days ago.
Now someone buy me of these to celebrate (make sure it has the glass panoramic roof for front and rear). The P85D will do.
Tesla Motors Model S
My drug of choice
Fentanyl (see Wikipedia)
Anaesthetists choice too if I remember correctly from past court cases.
GVHD
The endoscopy biopsy discovered GVHD (refer to Wikipedia for the deets). So now they now what is causing all the trouble.
Prednisone (a steroid) will fix all GVHD problems apparently. So my diarrhoea, skin rash, temperatures, lethargy, red eyes etc should see some return to some shade of normality over the next 5 days.
What a relief. It was very hard work maintaining some form of sanity through the last 4 weeks.
Spiked a temperature
38 degrees. Also have a cold sore on my lip and an ulcer inside my mouth. Feeling OK though.
Blood counts on the way up
So far no temperature spikes and no mucositis.
Who knows, I may be out of here at the end of the week.
Nausea
Had constant nausea the last week. Took a little while to find the right antiemetics. Feeling OK now. Nothing much else happening, just waiting.
Will update when something happens.
Gut ache
Every time I eat I get a gut ache, my stomach bloats up and I feel sick. The feed bag does not do this so I will see if they can feed me through my nose from now on.
Chemo and radiation finished
Stem cells tomorrow.
Lumbar Puncture
Done. A half a dozen shots of local anaesthetic in my lower back, a needle into my spine, tap off a few drops of spinal fluid followed by an injection of chemo into the same hole. I then had to lie on my back for a couple of hours.
The local didn’t sting much. The only little discomfort was caused by hitting a nerve when the needle went into my spine. I felt a nerve twinge in my leg and right bottom. No after effects though so not too bad.
